What you keep and what you forfeit if you cancel

Refunds run on a sliding scale tied to how close a cancellation falls to your arrival date, and services you skip once a trip is underway aren't refunded at all. Below is exactly how the charges break down.

Cancellation charges by timing

The percentage below applies to your group or booking total, and comes on top of whatever fee a flight, boat, train or hotel supplier charges under its own cancellation terms.

Time before arrivalCharge
60 days or moreDeposit is non-refundable, plus any supplier cancellation fee that applies
59 to 31 days30% of the booking total, plus supplier fees
30 to 15 days50% of the booking total, plus supplier fees
14 to 7 days70% of the booking total, plus supplier fees
Under 7 days, or no-show100% of the booking total
The deposit and any banking service fee are forfeited in every cancellation scenario, regardless of timing.

Once your trip has started

No refund applies to a service you choose not to use after departure. Skipping an included excursion, meal or transfer doesn't reduce what you've already paid, since those bookings are confirmed with suppliers well ahead of your arrival.

Supplier fees on top

Where an airline, boat operator, train company or hotel has its own cancellation terms, that charge applies in addition to our tier above, not instead of it. Those terms vary by supplier and by how far ahead of travel you cancel.

Questions before you book

If a cancellation scenario isn't covered above, or you want to check where a specific date falls on the scale, write our team before you book so there's no surprise later.
