Trip overview
Six rounds of golf are threaded through a north-to-south sweep of Vietnam and on into Cambodia. Days alternate between tee times and sightseeing rather than stacking golf back to back, so non-golfing partners have plenty to do — a junk cruise in [Ha Long Bay](destinations/ha-long-bay), a walking tour of [Hoi An](destinations/hoi-an)’s old quarter, temple mornings at Angkor.
Courses range from a links-style layout on Ha Long’s coast to a Greg Norman design carved into dunes at Ho Tram, with stops near Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap in between. Clubs and caddies are arranged locally at each course; you bring your own shoes and a decent short game.
This is a longer, slower trip than our standard sightseeing tours — sixteen days with five internal flights — built for golfers with the time for it. For a shorter, golf-free version of the same north-south route, see [Discovery Indochina](tours/discovery-indochina).

Day by day
Day 1 — Arrival in Hanoi

Meals: none included.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2 — A full day around Hanoi
Hanoi rewards a full day on foot: a look from outside at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, his modest stilt house and the adjacent One Pillar Pagoda, then the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon, Hoan Kiem Lake and its red bridge to Ngoc Son Temple, followed by an hour-long cyclo ride through the Old Quarter’s narrow trading streets.
The day closes with a Water Puppet performance — a centuries-old art form from the Red River Delta, where puppeteers work waist-deep in water to tell village folk tales.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3 — Golf near Hanoi
A transfer takes you to a golf course just outside the capital, timed around your tee slot. Once you’re back at the hotel, the evening is entirely your own.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 4 — Overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay
A two-and-a-half to three-hour drive through rice paddies reaches the coast, where you board a traditional junk to weave slowly past Ha Long Bay’s limestone islets. Lunch is served on deck as the boat threads between the karsts, with an afternoon of activities weather and itinerary permitting, before anchoring for the night.
Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Overnight on a junk in Ha Long Bay.
Day 5 — Golf on the coast, then on to Hoi An
An early Tai Chi session on the sundeck starts the morning, followed by breakfast as the junk cruises back toward the pier. From there it’s a round at FLC Ha Long Golf Club, then a road transfer to Noi Bai Airport to catch the flight south to Da Nang and on toward Hoi An.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 6 — Golf at Montgomerie Links
A round at Montgomerie Links, or a comparable course nearby, fills the morning; timing follows your tee slot. Everything after that is unstructured, back in Hoi An.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 7 — Golf at BRG Danang
Another coastal round, this time at BRG Danang Golf Club or a similar course, again scheduled around your tee time. Leisure time follows back in town.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 8 — Hoi An’s old town, then fly to Ho Chi Minh City
A walking tour threads through Hoi An’s UNESCO-listed old quarter — a trading port active from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries — taking in a centuries-old merchant house, the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, the Japanese Covered Bridge and the riverside market. From there, a transfer to Da Nang Airport connects to a flight south to Ho Chi Minh City, with nothing scheduled once you’ve checked in.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 9 — Cu Chi Tunnels and a Saigon city tour
Mornings here go underground at Cu Chi, the hand-dug tunnel network guerrilla fighters used as wartime cover. Back in the city after lunch, a half-day tour passes the Reunification Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office, with a stop in Chinatown for a local market and the Thien Hau Temple.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 10 — Golf at Long Thanh
A round at Long Thanh Golf Course, timing arranged around your tee slot, with the balance of the day free once you’re back in the city.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 11 — Sampan cruise to Cai Be
A two-hour drive reaches Cai Be, a town known for its rice fields and dense network of waterways. A private sampan carries you along the Cai Be River past small workshops turning out sheets of rice paper, blocks of coconut candy and puffed rice, then a handicraft village where spring-roll wrapper nets, fish sauce and coconut-leaf roofing all get made by hand. A smaller rowing boat pushes further into the quieter canals before lunch is served at a colonial-style riverside villa surrounded by fruit trees.
Meals: breakfast, lunch.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 12 — Transfer to Ho Tram
A coastal transfer brings you to Ho Tram, with the afternoon and evening open to use the resort’s facilities ahead of tomorrow’s round.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight at The Grand Ho Tram.
Day 13 — Golf at The Bluffs, then fly to Siem Reap
An early tee time at The Bluffs Ho Tram, a Greg Norman-designed course set across coastal dunes with elevation shifts from five to fifty metres. Afterward, a transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City connects to your flight into Siem Reap.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 14 — Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei and Ta Prohm
An early start catches sunrise at Angkor Wat, the temple’s towers reflected in the surrounding moat as light comes up. Breakfast follows back at the hotel, then it’s on to Angkor Thom: through the South Gate first, the carved stone faces of the Bayon next, a look at the Terrace of the Elephants, over to where the Leper King terrace stands, and last stop, the old Royal Enclosure.
In the afternoon, a full look at Angkor Wat itself and its bas-reliefs, then out to Banteay Srei, a small pink-sandstone temple known for unusually fine carving, before Ta Prohm on the way back — its stonework wrapped in centuries of tree roots.
Meals: breakfast.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 15 — Golf at the Angkor Golf Course, Apsara dinner
A round at the Angkor Golf Course, timed around your tee slot, with free time back at the hotel afterward. In the evening, dinner comes with a traditional Apsara dance performance at a local restaurant.
Meals: breakfast, dinner.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 16 — Tonle Sap and departure
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a cruise on Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake and a UNESCO-recognised biosphere, past a floating fishing village. You’re back in Siem Reap by midday for lunch, with free time until your transfer to the airport for the departure flight.

Good to know
Green fees, caddies and cart hire are billed separately from the package price and vary by course — ask for a course-by-course quote when you book. Club rental is available everywhere on the route, but keen golfers usually prefer to bring their own set.
This itinerary covers a lot of ground — five internal flights and three regional bases — so pack light enough to move quickly through airports. Golf days are scheduled around tee times rather than a fixed start, so mornings can shift depending on the course.
A Cambodia visa is needed for the Siem Reap leg from Day 13 onward; check current requirements for your nationality before you travel. For more on planning a longer Vietnam route, see our [Vietnam first-time guide](travel-guide/vietnam-first-time-guide).
